Manage Bit Locker on a USB

Purpose

Define the settings used to manage Bit Locker To Go on removable storage devices.

Procedure

1. Change Password
   1. Right click the drive from File Explorer
   2. Choose Change BitLocker Password
2. Forgot Password
   1. With the drive inserted and locked, attempt to open the drive
   2. Choose ‘More Options’ on the password prompt
   3. Choose ‘Enter recovery key’
   4. Take note of the Key ID:
      1. The Key ID is an 8-character unique identifier for the device
   5. Call the IT team and ask them to help you get the BitLocker Recovery key for your device. Provide the Key ID.
3. Turn on Auto-Unlock
   1. Right click the drive from File Explorer
   2. Choose ‘Manage BitLocker’
   3. Click ‘Turn On Auto-Unlock’
      1. This only affects the computer it is turned on for.
